February Events Update
11 02 2011We had to cancel the winter session of Masks for Change but another one is scheduled for April 16 through May 21. All classes and groups that are held through the Art Experience, Inc have sliding scales for their fee structure. This change has come about due to the non-profit statues we are still seeking for the Art Experience, Inc. we want to be able to offer affordable groups and classes for the community.
Therefore a fundraiser will be coming up this spring.
I am helping make it possible for a puppeteer troupe called Thingumajig to be able to perform their puppet show, A November Day, at the Center for Continuing Education just off the Square in Fayetteville, on March 1. This show, for ages 10 and up is about the experiences of a World War One soldier and so is a not Sesame Street but for more mature audiences. It shows how moving a puppet show can be. I have seen these puppeteers before at the National Puppeteers of America Festival. they are very talented. We are raising money to cover the performance hall by crowd funding through Kickstarter. www.thingumajigtheater.com shows their work. I’m all for bringing good puppet work to our community.
Speaking of puppets, I have begun the puppetmaking class, despite the bad weather and we will be making foam puppets. We only had one session and still have room for more.
Also the Pathfinders group was able to have it’s first session last Saturday and hopefully the weather will be clear enough to meet again. We also still have room for others to join. check out the Classes and Groups category to find out more about these groups.
The office has been closed for Wednesday,Thursday and Friday due to the weather.
